No Saturday Classes - March 19th, 2011

Greetings Dancers - there will be no Saturday classes this week on March 19th.

Instead Join us for the DPS Sacred Dance Concert for HIV Awareness and Prevention at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday March 19, 2-4pm.

The event is completely free and open to the public. The Children's Workshop Co of Detroit and the PGI Dancers will be on the program. We hope that you will come and support them in what will be an uplifting and enlightening afternoon!!!

Classes will resume as usual next week.

Keith Tyrone Williams is a native of East St. Louis, Illinois and currently teaches in the St. Louis Public School System and adjunct professor at Washington University. Keith has an extensive background in the cultural and performing arts. He has performed, directed and choreographed throughout the United States and extensively in Europe. Most recently, Keith appeared in “The Full Monty” at Stages St. Louis for which he won the prestigious Kevin Kline Award. His most recent choreographic work, “Sarafina”, a musical about South African Aparthied, received rave reviews and garnered Keith his second Kevin Kline Award for best choreography. Of his proudest achievements is being the recipient of the NAACP Cultural Arts Award for his contribution to cultural arts and his mentorship of young African American
Artists. His work as a director/choreographer/performer has been seen at Arena Stage, Amas Repertory, Cape Fear Regional Theater, Gem Theater, Powell Symphony Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Los Angeles Playhouse, the St. Louis Black Repertory Company & the Muny Theater (St. Louis). Keith has been a master teacher at Philadanco, International Association of Blacks in Dance, Lula Washington, and universities nationally and internationally. His Broadway, national, and international credits include Once On This Island, Legs Diamond ,Five Guys Named Moe (LA Ovation and NAACP nomination, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber/Royal Command Performance, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Starlight Express, and Katherine Dunham Gala at Carnegie Hall.
Keith is very proud to be among the few people certified by Katherine Dunham to teach the world renowned Dunham Technique, and served as co-writer and appeared in the historic documentary on Dunham Technique with the Library of Congress. Keith is
Artistic Director of Innervision Dance Theatre and holds a BS, MA, and MFA/Directing with an emphasis in Arts Management and has particular interests to incorporate cultural arts into academic curriculums to enrich, inspire, and elevate the minds of youth diverse backgrounds.
